Can I use this card with my insurance?
I often have someone commenting or asking me this very question. The card was designed and promoted more to help people who have to pay full price for their prescriptions. However, in some cases the card can come in handy for someone who has the benefit of having insurance coverage. With the card being FREE why not have one handy just in case.
Below are a few examples of how the card can help someone even if they have insurance.
- No Prescription Drug Coverage Benefit: Many insurance companies offer plans on health care and limited to no assistance on prescription drug coverage. You can go to the doctor and use your insurance card and use your RX discount drug card to save you from paying full price at the pharmacy.
- Formularies: Insurance companies are increasingly limiting which drugs they will pay for such as: Birth Control, Diabetic Supplies, Smoking cessation and drugs that they decide are not cost effective for them.
- Medicare Part D: Our RX drug card can be used to secure discounts on those drugs that are excluded from Part D Medicare. It will also provide discounts when a person on Medicare reaches the "coverage gap".
- High Deductible Plans: Our card program allows you to get discounts on RX drugs before you reach the level at which the insurance company starts paying benefits.
- High Co-payment: When you have a $25 co-pay and the drug is only $12 you often have to still pay the $25. In this case, you use the C.A.P. drug card and pay $12.
The general rule is that you cannot use both the RX drug card and your insurance prescription card but in these cases the card will come in quite handy. As I stated before with the card being free why not just print one out and start saving on your medications today? I also always suggest sending this link to anyone else you may know that is having trouble affording the high cost of medications.
